Anyone who's been to college has heard about the "freshman fifteen." This refers to the weight gained by many college students during their first year. Some common causes include lots of questionable dining hall meals, excessive alcohol consumption, and lack of physical activity. Lucky for you, you don't have to fall victim to the "freshman fifteen," as long as you follow these 5 easy weight loss tips for college students.


1)Motivate Yourself
 You cannot simply list "lose weight" on your list of things to do today and half-heartedly expect it to happen. Nor can you skip a few rounds of dessert and magically shrink down to size; you must recognize all of the reasons you need to lose weight, such as being heart-healthy, more attractive and physically capable in life, and let all of those things light a serious fire under you. You've got to really want this!

2)Keeping a weight loss journal
Maintaining a weight loss journal is only one of many excellent easy weight loss tips to remain on track of your target is to write down your thoughts. You could use this journal to keep record of how you are achieving concerning your exercise and diet, what your targets are, how your feelings are, your potential frustrations or anything that improves your feelings.

One of the best things you can do to lose weight is to track your weight over time. There's something about the process that is very motivating and the sense of commitment that comes with it is amazing.

4) Keeping a Food Diary
A food diary keeps you accountable, it forces you to be honest with yourself, and it opens your eyes as to what you're eating. You'll learn a lot about yourself in the process and that will benefit you greatly down the road.

5)Participate in Intramural Sports
Intramural sports are a great way for college students to stay in shape. Most college students enjoy playing some sport or another, but do not have the time available to play on their school's team. Intramural leagues are great substitutes, with more flexible schedules and the ability to play with (or against) your friends. Most modern colleges offer a wide range of intramural leagues, including less demanding, though still fun and challenging, sports such as ultimate Frisbee.

6)Get enough sleep
College students often learn to survive on little to no sleep while running on the fumes of coffee and dreams. Lack of sleep has a greatly impacts your health. Forgetting about the loads of calories in many Starbucks concoctions, studies have shown that lack of sleep has negative effects on your metabolism, which then could then cause you to gain weight, not to mention other potential health issues. Rather than attempting an all-night, sleep-deprived study session, try to sneak in a 20-30 minute nap every few hours.
